BTS: Drocell Cainz (Kuroshitsuji) In The Making!

Hey everyone! :D

It's been a while since my last post and lately some of you have been asking about my Drocell Cainz cosplay :) regarding the makeup, costume, music box etc. So here I am, posting a little um...FAQ? I dunno. Just for you lovelies to see some of the WIP work that I did when I made the costume! It's not really much, just a couple of photos here and there but I will try to explain some of the things I did so that you will have a better idea of the process. As for the make up I used for Drocell see HERE :)

Also, I'm really sorry for the extremely bad lighting in some of the photos D: I pulled an all-nighter before the convention to finish this costume =_____=' *eye twitch* So I ended up taking the photos in either the late hours of the night or early hours of the morning XD

Hopefully this small segment will answer some of your questions :D And if it doesn't...well don't be afraid to ask me anything :) I might post another 'behind the scenes' if you want, just comment!

A close up photo of the details on the tailcoat. The base is a
gold satin ribbon with a gold embroidery trim laid over the top
in the centre.

Dry bushing technique used on the box to give an 'aged' look. The box IS actually wooden, I just used different acrylic paints over the top to produce the deep brown colour (originally it was beige). Basically to make the box, I drew out patterns and adjusted the box size to fit my height. Then my dad helped me get supplies and cut out the pieces for me. 

The tailcoat of my Drocell costume still in the process of being
completed! This is just to show you how the final product was
going to look in the end :) For the most part of it, the garment
was sewn with my old sewing machine...which is a tiniest thing
you'll ever see. Only the gold ribbon and trims were sewn with
my new one!

the top hat myself. I had a browse around in many
shops but most of the hats weren't tall enough!
Solution? Make my own :)
This was my first hand at making a hat so although
it's not perfect I still love it. Finished this at 1am in
the morning before the con XD

This is the actual base that I used in making my hat. I used
thick cardboard for the inside of the brim and fabric over the
top (the ring seen here was slipped into the fabric cover).
Both the inner and outer rim of the 'donut' has flexible wire
running around it for extra support and so that I can bend
the brim and have it stay in place.

These are the buttons that I used on the tailcoat. I ended up having to
use ones that were flat and white in colour because I couldn't find
any buttons that were even relatively similar to the one's seen on
Drocell's tailcoat. I hand painted then in a gold colour with black
acrylic paint as a base for the gold spray paint to stick to. I used
about 3 layers of spray paint, letting each dry before spraying the
next.

as the theme of my birthday party
was Alice In Wonderland.

Schoool + Cosplay WIP

Hello again everyone! :)

As you might have noticed, I only (just then) posted my MelCosPho 10 aka. MCP 10 recount/ diary entry... >.>' Yeah...about that.

First off, school has started again for me (I'm in my second last year of high school :O) and so far, it's only the SECOND week back "OTL. I've been concentrating on my studies so far so I've been less active online and whatnot because this year I really want to do well as well as develop my work habits so I'm prepared for my final year! So basically school is keeping me busy @___@'

As for the other 'distraction' I've had, that would be the 'Secret Cosplay' that I am currently working on on the weekends and in my spare time! I would say that it's quite a relatively large project that I've taken up so I hope everything turns out right XD haha. I'm not going to be revealing it until ONE week prior to Supanova Melbourne because it's supposed to be a 'surprise' for all my friends and viewers :)

HOWEVER. I have decided that I will post a few little WIP shots on my blog _{because hardly anyone follows me~} just as some subtle hints :)

Good day/ night/ afternoon/ evening (?) to you my dear Ladies and Gentlemen :)

How are all of you doing?

It's been a while since I've actually posted ANYTHING of relevance/ importance/ non-rant (?) so I thought I'd 'surprise' you all with one of the somewhat 'latest' cosplays of mine! A couple of days ago the 10th MelCosPho cosplay meet was held and this time the venue was at the Treasury Gardens in the Melbourne CBD. Leading up to the day, it had already been expected to be quite hot, but what most of us were met with yesterday was pretty ridiculous. Even though it was around 35 degrees we all managed to battle the heat and it certainly did not affect the friendly atmosphere that was buzzing around. On the day, I (dressed as Ciel Phantomhive) attended with some of my best friends including my imouto-chan, JouJou (who went as L from Death Note), Taylor (A.K.A 'Sebby' as Sebastian Michaelis) and my nii-chan Soren (who was in 'casual').

It was actually QUITE the start to the day when I arrived at the train station half an hour early only to see that the trains weren't running and that we would have to take a rail bus :I _{Grumpy Bocchan is grumpy}. Soon I bumped into Soren _{Well more like yelled across the street to him xD} and we met up with both Jou and Sebby pretty much straight after (they are ACTUAL brother and sister so they arrived together). Soon after that we boarded a bus before switching to train via a different station and were on our way to the city! So many people avoiding us and I think that some officers also walked onto the train and eyed us as we stood chatting >_____>"
First stop, the Treasury Gardens! This was where the meet was held and the turn out was amazing. Due to the heat there was less people who came, but most of us didn't let it affect us and battled out the heat in the friendly atmosphere. Upon our arrival, we met up with my friend Risika who I hadn't seen since Armageddon Melbourne 2011! <3 We had a bit of a chat before she introduced up to some of the members in their recently formed cosplay group Nameless Cosplay and then we settled down to start Sebby's makeup...Well Taylor and I did -.-" Soren set up to start photobombing photos and tried to hunt down a few girls, where as Jou just sat around trying to stay in character xP

Then a little while later...we were finished and started walking around the gardens to get some photos :) As well as meeting some new people. I had an eye patch on (dammit!) and managed to trip quite a good few times...;A; Other than those minor incidents however, I managed to get some photos taken of my friends xP, as well as spot a few well known cosplayers :)

"Watashi was Eru desu...

We probably spent...I think a couple of hours at the meet and then we decided to head off to lunch with Risika and her friends. However, this idea was quickly scratched when we lost track of them .___." So...we decided to wonder around like nomads for a bit and came across some lovely locations where we did a couple of shots. During at one point in time, we were lucky enough to bump into some fellow cosplayers who were dressed as Fem Ciel and Grell Sutcliff - What a coincidence! :) From there, we invited them to join our little 'shoot' and we had a lovely time chatting with them as well as laughing our heads off when we tried some Grell x Sebby shots!

As the day wore on, we went our separate ways before my friends and I headed for Melbourne Central as hunger began to set in. Once inside we headed straight for the food court, however Taylor and I were quickly caught by some lovely girls who kindly asked for a photo of us :3 Thank you dears~
Once our stamina had been refilled, the rest of the day QUICKLY zoomed by as we headed towards the Carlton Gardens for some more Seb/ Ciel photos before disbanding and heading home together :D

Overall, the day was definitely filled with fun and happy times and I hope that we can all get together and do this again soon! Much <3 to you guys~

Updates!

Hello again my dears :)

How are we all?
I just wanted to post a little 'section'/ explanation - EXPLANATION SECTION "orz, about my updates and whatnot etc. Just like the title says :) Beginning with the updates, I will usually do these on my DeviantArt account (I'll include a link at the bottom of this post), because I find it a lot easier to just stick with one site...HOWEVER, when I do updates, it's usually pretty brief because well... I just do (and I also explained this in my first blog post :D), but I WILL be posting more detailed accounts of anything regarding to cosplay that happens with me and my friends :)
Secondly, I will also most likely be posting a lot of WIPs and stuff here regarding my cospl - Wait. I think I already explained this in my last post ._______." whoops...
Now, moving on a bit (before I start re-stating what I already have)! I will be getting to my first cosplay related posts on here, because there are a few cosplay events coming up soon! (Yay~) I will be attending the following upcoming events so you can look forward to some posts from there!


1. MelCosPho 10 - Yes another MelCosPho again, and I'm relieved to say that it is NOT the last one :) I will be attend with some of my friends, as a Kuroshitsuji group (I think, we're not sure yet) and we'll hopefully get some more photos!

2. Supanova (Melbourne) 2012 - Yes! I definitely CAN'T wait for this one! Why? Well... I'll update then :) Another Supanova is near (no pun intended?) and will once again, be the first con of the year! Well... for me anyway. Hopefully it will be as good as it has for the previous years.

Anywho, this is a wrap up from me :) Because any longer and I will start ranting. That is an understatement ._."

New Blog!

Helloooo everyone! :)

Well. I finally decided on making a blog for myself, so that I can post various things about my cosplay (and rants) for my viewers/ watchers/ followers (?) to see. I WOULD have and possibly COULD have done the exact same thing on my DeviantArt, however you need the unfortunate premium membership before they allow you post any sort of photos along with your journal *sigh* D:

Now, here I am ranting about all this and how I got a blog etc.
So! As far as my new 'blog' goes, I will probably end up posting a lot of WIP (work in progress) work and stuff about certain cosplays that I have done/ will be upcoming. Photos and shizznits from conventions will also most likely be posted here :D
